hello! apologies if you've answered this before, but would y'all be alright with someone using SLARPG songs in videos that aren't about the game (with credit ofc)? I make videos about indie games sometimes and would love to use something like Greenridge Theme But 37% Softer to accompany my voice
Yes, that’d be fine! Bee only requests that people not reupload the music by itself to YouTube right now since she’s working on getting the individual tracks up on her own channel. But derivative content like using it as background music in a video (with credit), or commenting on the music in some way - or remixing it, for that matter - are all open season
i forgot to mention to bobby when she checked with me about this, but i should also note that the soundtrack license also stipulates a "share alike" requirement! that means any works based on slarpg ost (e.g. remixes & mashups, samples, etc) should also be published using the same creative commons license as the original (more info about that here).
(also, seeing as the license isn't written quite as granular as i'd like it to be: it is a "non-commercial" license, meaning you shouldn't for example sell samples or remixes based off slarpg ost. BUT! if you're using it as like background music for a youtube video, or using clips of the music in a review or analysis of the game/OST, and you want to monetize that content, absolutely go for it.)
if you're making any content that uses some part of the soundtrack, and you're still unsure about what's permitted or how to license it, please feel free to ask me! otherwise, have fun 💓
